On the first day of school, every child is greeted by the full team of CNH teachers and is given a wildflower.  They carry that wildflower into their homeroom and add it to the class vase sitting at the front of the room to create the class bouquet.  We use this metaphor to illustrate this community to which we each belong. This year, we started with the school bouquets that went home with each individual student.  In distance learning, we are all still connected.  You are each part of the CNH bouquet. Many months of loving thought and deliberate action have [...]

Sunshine and Bumblebees I hope that you had a wonderfully relaxing three-day weekend! My weekends have been filled trying to convert our backyard into a living pollinator garden.  It is much in transition, but it has been fun trying to decide which flowers should go where and what it will look like once the seeds grow and blossom.  Our living wall is starting to live, and our flowers are starting to attract bees. It was touching and beautiful to see a community embrace their young people and provide them with the honor and celebration they deserve.   Last Thursday, a group of family [...]

Staying Together By Staying Apart   Text on T-Shirt: "Easter 2020" I went to Target the other day for some much-needed supplies (baby food, cleaning supplies, etc.). As I walked through the store with my gloves and mask on, waiting at the end of an aisle for someone to make their selections and move on so that we could maintain a 6-foot distance, and paying for my items on the other side of a plexiglass wall, I strangely felt connected to those around me.  We are all in this together. We smile with our eyes and step aside to allow [...]
