The three-day week last week was jam-packed with greatness!  Third grade conducted fieldwork at Frank’s restaurant, as they are learning about what people eat around the world.  Mr. Smith’s 8th Grade Advisory cooked a pancake and sausage breakfast for 1st Grade because they donated the most Thanksgiving foods for families. Ms. Mencer’s 7th Grade Advisory hosted the Fall Festival to raise money for gifts for kids who are awaiting medical treatment. 8th Grade students, De’Quan and Seamus, organized and hosted a Faculty-Student flag football game as our own unofficial Turkey Bowl. So much greatness happening in our school!  We all left for our four-day break with laughter and positive energy. What a great way to begin a long weekend of gratitude!

City Neighbors Night of Code This Thursday

Join us in the CNHS Cafe at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 29  for our first- ever Night of Code. This family event will serve as a kick-off for the Hour of Code activities which will be taking place at all three City Neighbors schools the week of December 3-7.  Come learn about computer science, see a demo from actual video game developers, and even make some new robotic friends!  Our goal is to get everyone excited about Computer Science, so all students must be accompanied by an adult.
If you’re planning to attend, take a moment to RSVP at

CNH Blend Coffee Sales begins this week

Every year, Zeke’s Coffee makes a special CNH blend for us to sell as a fundraiser. Order forms will be sent home with students this week and must be returned to the school by the morning of December 7.

Below are the types of coffee for sale:
  • CNH Special Blend (whole and ground)
  • Decaf Medium Roast (whole and ground)
  • Hippie Blend (whole and ground)
  • Holiday Roast (whole and ground)
If you need volunteer hours, an easy way to earn them is to help with sorting and distributing the coffee between December 7 and 13. Please contact Lynette Svoboda at if you can help.

Parents Night Out – December 7, 6-9 PM

We are excited to host parents for a special night at CNH.  We will have live music, a mashed potato bar with meats, vegetables, and all of the fixings, a sundae bar, funtinis, and a low-cost CNH t-shirt making stand (you bring the shirts, we have the logos). Prices range from $10-$25 depending upon what you want to do.

Child care will be provided for CNH students ($10 for the first child and $5 for each additional child). We will serve grilled cheese sandwiches and snacks for the kids and will have a movie and activities for them, as well. Please note that you must stay in the building if you drop your kids off for childcare.  We are not providing childcare for you to go out somewhere else. (That will be a different date!)

RSVP so that we know how much food to prepare and how many adults to provide for childcare!

CNH Work Day — This Sunday, December 2, 1-5 PM

It is time once more for us to get together and help around the school. This Sunday, we will help with decorating for Arts Showcase, painting in stairwells and classrooms, fixing small things in classrooms, and small tasks outside of the building. We would appreciate it if you could join us!  All skill levels are welcomed. Given the time of the year, most of the work will be indoors.

Please send an email to Facilities Chair, Suranjan Chakraborty,, if you can join us. Include in the email any special skills that you may have and the amount of time you could contribute to help us with planning the day.

A Special Note from Ms. Mencer

Hello Staff and Families!

Thank you to everyone who came to our Fall Festival, contributed to our Bake Sale, and participated in our Pie Eating Contest. My advisory and I are thankful for your donations to our fundraiser cause. Our goal was to earn enough money to provide items to those receiving medical treatment in hospitals. To ensure our mission is able to be completed,  we are joining the cause named Jared’s Box. It is an organization that provides small plastic shoe box-sized boxes filled with activities, toys, books, etc. to keep children entertained while they await medical treatment in hospitals.
Thank you again, everyone, for all your help and support throughout our fundraising efforts, we truly appreciate it.  Please check out this link for more information:
