Searches for 2nd Grade, Middle School Math, and Social Studies

Clara Walter is moving from 2nd grade teacher to Intervention teacher for the school next year.  We were able to open up a new position in the Middle School so Humanities will not be split into ELA and Social Studies, thus creating a new position.  Randy Johnson is moving to Kentucky at the end of this year in order to be closer to family. This leaves us with three open positions.

We would like our school community to meet each candidate and provide us with feedback for the decision-making process.  Below are times for students and their parents/guardians to meet each candidate, ask them questions, and get to know them a little bit.

Here is a Google Form to sign up!

  • Social Studies — 5:30-6:30  TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 21 (2 candidates for 20 minutes each)

  • Math — 5:30-6:30 Wednesday, April 28 (2 candidates for 20 minutes each)

  • 2nd Grade — This is currently being re-scheduled.  I will send out the date and time as soon as possible!

THIS SATURDAY! Earth Day Event for the CNH Community!

City Neighbors Hamilton’s Community Relations Committee has organized a community cleanup in celebration of Earth Day on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 10AM to 1PM. In addition to our cleanup efforts, we will paint ~10 storm drains that surround the school and will partner with the Facilities Committee to do some weeding and planting on school grounds. In addition, we invited Compost Crew to provide education around composting and a bin to collect compost SO PLEASE BRING YOUR COMPOST.  Our goal with this project is to create an in person COVID compliant event that partners our school and the local community, while celebrating our Earth!

We will provide hand sanitizer, water, snacks, cleaning and painting supplies. If you have gloves, please bring them with you.

We are also asking that you wear your CNH Gear to promote school pride. Click the link below to purchase.

City Neighbors 2030 Update

Dear City Neighbors Community,

We are getting ready to launch our community-wide design of the future of City Neighbors!   City Neighbors 2030, here we come!

The challenges of this year have been enormous.   Together, we have developed new approaches to teaching and learning and to strengthening our community, all while providing mutual support to navigate this time of incredible personal and community challenge.  No one claims that things went perfectly, but our City Neighbors community showed its strength, creativity, resilience, and connection.

While this might not seem like the ideal time to begin thinking a decade into the future, it is, in many ways, the perfect time. Our communities are stable and strong.  We have stability among our leadership, staff, and parent and student bodies. Our schools are getting strong results for students.  And we have all been required to think differently about schooling, its purpose, and what it can look like.

To do the work of effectively designing our future, we need help. We need an organization or team that can help us look objectively at our organization, our structure, our needs, and our impact.  How will City Neighbors be strong and sustainable in 2030 and beyond?   How will we make sure that we can pass the core and beauty of City Neighbors from one generation to the next?   How will we make sure that our journey in equity stays at the center of our design and work going forward? How will we define our success as schools taking a stand for a different vision of great teaching and learning?   How will we continue our evolution into great schools?  And so many more questions that we haven’t even formulated yet.

In February and March of this year, a group consisting of parents, teachers, Board members, students, alumni, and school leaders met with teams of consultants from across the country. After seven weeks and countless meetings, interviews, and deliberations, the team unanimously recommended Star Cypress in s Partners ( to work with us over the next fourteen to eighteen months to design City Neighbors 2030. In March, the City Neighbors Foundation Council unanimously approved the recommendation.

Star Cypress was selected for many reasons, including its commitment to true grass-roots decision-making, its work centered in diversity, equity and inclusion, and its extensive experience in organizational planning locally, nationally, and internationally. We are excited to welcome Heidi Everett and Samantha Murray from Star Cypress Partners to the City Neighbors family, and are excited for all of us to work with them on this journey.

This process will take all of us.  In true City Neighbors fashion, we will work together to create the future of City Neighbors – to help ensure that our schools are powerful and inspired educational forces, not only for us, but also for future generations of students, parents, and educators.

Stay tuned!

Gwendolyn and Mike, City Neighbors Foundation
