“I LIKE THIS PAINTING BECAUSE IT HAS A BENCH”

As I sit on my back deck writing this post, I am filled with anticipation of Spring Break next week. I look forward to 10 days filled with yard work, projects around the house, and working in my studio on a sculpture I started way too long ago to be still working on it. Either way, having the spaciousness of time to meander in thought and action is going to be amazing. I might spend the afternoon at the Baltimore Museum of Art, only looking at artwork that comes with benches. lol

I wish for all of you, as we gear up for Spring Break, plans that include spaciousness and relaxation with loved ones in whatever form that means to you. And, if you’re an an art maker, you might want to think about your next project — We are going to begin next school year with a Staff and Family Art Exhibit at CNH!!

Happy Week 31!

DewMore Poetry Festival

Thanks to all of the CNH parent volunteers, the Poetry Festival was a big success! Messiah Jones, 7th-grade, represented CNH with his poems and received the highest score in the second round of Middle School bouts.  He did such a great job!!

It was great to see young people from all over the city cheering each other on and actively listening to each other’s stories. DewMore is an amazing organization. We are lucky to be able to call them a partner at CNH!

Walk With Shyla Around Lake Montebello

The last Sunday of this and next month this Spring, join Dr. Shyla on a walk around Lake Montebello. The walks give you time to share ideas you have for the school, ask questions about things you wonder, and get to know one another! We will meet at 4:00 on the parking lot right by the playground at Lake Montebello on April 28.

NOTE: Spring Gallery Night Date Has Changed To May 29, 6:00-8:00

Spring Gallery Night is a fantastic evening where the entire school is open to the public with mini-museums in every room engaging visitors with the learning from Trimester 3 in their classes. It’s an amazing night of fine arts, arts-integration, and non-arts content!

Hope to see you there!

Scholastic Book Fair – May 1, 2, and 3

We are hosting a Scholastic Book Fair during Progress Report Conferences on May 1, 2, 3.  Radhika Shenoy is leading the Scholastic Book Fair and needs some volunteers to support with Set-Up (April 29 and 30, 5:00-6:30),  Sales (May 1-3, anytime between 1:00-6:00), and Take-Down of stalls (May 3, 5:00-7:00).
Click this link if you can help out with any part of the book fair.  We need many hands to make this lighter work!
