Aaahhh, the crispness of a new morning. The promise of a new day. The vision of a new trimester. Welcome to Trimester 2, everyone!
We have new Google Classrooms, new Electives, new Intensives, and tweaks to general instruction coming our way! This week, Intensives and A-Team (Arts and Athletics) classes will be asynchronous as non-arts teachers finalize Intensives groupings and arts teachers finalize Family Arts Night for Friday (6-7:00). Next week we begin new Intensives and A-Team classes. This week and next week will be sign-ups and assigning Electives while providing asynchronous Elective offerings.
In these 12 days until Winter Break, let’s allow ourselves to be filled with joy of approaching the end of 2020 as well as the anticipation of a new dawn ahead. I look forward to this second trimester with you all!

THIS WEEK: Intensives, Electives, and Arts Classes, oh my!
In order for the teachers to thoughtfully finalize their plans for Intensives groupings in Trimester 2, Intensives and Arts classes will be asynchronous this week. Teachers will share asynchronous assignments with the students.
Since students are switching A-team (arts and Athletics) classes this trimester, be sure to have your child look on Google Classroom for an invitation to their new class. Asynchronous assignments for this week will be posted in the Google Classroom.
Please note that teachers have created new Google Classrooms for Trimester 2 because they can’t separate grading by trimester in the same Google Classroom. Students must accept the Trimester 2 Google Classroom for each of their classes. This will allow teachers to streamline content and not have grades from last trimester be averaged into grades from this trimester.
This and next week, electives will be asynchronous while students sign-up for their Trimester 2 elective. And yes, they can sign-up for the same elective if they choose. Keep an eye out for the elective sign-ups before the end of this week!

Dec. 17 — K-3 PJ Story Hour on Zoom
On Thursday, December 17, the Kindergarten through Third grade classes will each be hosting their own PJ Story Hour on Zoom!
You and your family are invited to join your class on Zoom from 7:00-7:45 pm on Thursday, December 17. Wear your jammies and bring two or three favorite books to share! Your teacher will put you in a breakout room with one or two other families from your class, and you can take turns reading aloud some favorite books.
A goody bag with treats for the evening will be available for pick-up at the school the week of December 14th (times to be determined). Additionally, if you are short on books at home, you are welcome to check out 2-3 books from the school to borrow for the evening at the same time you pick up your goody bag.
This is a great way to spend some time with classmates outside of the school day, and to get to know other families from your class. We hope you can join us!

Teacher Office Hours
Due to underwhelming attendance, we are limiting open office hours for all grade bands to Mondays, 11:15-11:45. We still want to offer the ability for someone to pop into Office Hours, but we have found that almost all teachers have only had a couple of people attend this year. It seems to work better to schedule an appointment to meet.
This new Office Hours schedule is effective Monday, December 7 — the first day of Trimester 2.
